Naturally Dyed Eggs for Easter

Tumeric-dyed egg

Colorfull hard-boiled eggs are a breakfast favorite for Easter for both children and adults alike. Last year we experimented with natural dyes for our hard boiled eggs, and we came up with an easy and safe to eat method. The recipe yields hard-boiled eggs with either yellow or blue colors.

Naturally dyed eggs

You will need:

1 L of water

6 eggs

Yellow eggs: 4 topped table-spoons of powdered tumeric

Blue eggs: 200 g of frozen blueberries

0.5 dL vinegar (7%)

Procedure:

Fill a pot with the water, either tumeric or blueberries and vinager. Bring to a boil and let simmer on low heat for 15 min.

Gently place your eggs inside the dye-bath and boil for 10 minutes. Leave eggs shorter or longer depending on your preference for boiling of the eggs.

Enjoy !
